Yanni Hufnaegel: Coaching College Basketball With Passion

College Basketball is a sport that requires physical excellence, passion, and drive. Players are expected to give their all to the sport, and this requires huge amounts of determination and skill. However, as it is well known, behind every great team lies a great coach. Coaches must lead their teams with competence and passion. Yanni Hufnaegel exemplifies this role as the assistant coach of the Nevada Wolf Pack. He has applied his basketball knowledge and experience toward bettering the team and encouraging its players. He recently accepted the position of assistant coach to the Nevada Wolf Pack directly below Eric Musselman. He has an impressive grasp of the game and has been highly praised for his coaching abilities.

Yanni Hufnaegel has dreamed of becoming a basketball coach since his childhood. There were many events that shaped Huffnaegel into the exceptional coach that he is today. The previous positions that he has held have helped him become very knowledgeable about college basketball. He was even named by CBS Sports as a prime candidate for the “dream team” of assistant coaches. Hufnaegel has been applying his passion for the sport in multiple different ways for his whole life.

Before coming to be assistant coach for the Nevada Wolf Pack, Yanni Hufnaegel built an impressive resume that included assistant coaching for many great teams. Hufnaegel was a manager for the basketball team at his own college, and even interned for the New Jersey Nets. He first worked as an assistant coach at Harvard. Then, he moved on to work the same position for the Vanderbilt Commodores, followed by the California Godlen Bears.

Yanni Hufnaegel attended Pennsylvania State University and was a defenseman on their Lacrosse team. He went on to become assistant coach under Tommy Amaker at Harvard University in 2009. Four years later under coach Kevin Stallings, he joined the team of the Vanderbilt Commodores with great success. He then became assistant coach to the California Golden Bears, before recently going on to join the Nevada Wolf Pack. Hufnaegel began assistant coaching the Nevada Wolf pack in 2016, and has applied his competence and passion to the team every day.
