Stephen: Olimar is such a racist.  Not really.

But seriously, can you imagine how the Pikmin must feel when he throws them around like he does?  Into the mouths of monsters or into pits of lava?  Every one of them is a martyr for what?  A bottle cap? 

Anyways, if you really think about it, the system he has set up here is really efficient.  All Olimar needs to do is pick one, and then that one picks one, and then those two pick two, and they exponentially get faster and faster.
