In January 2016, the Reno-Tahoe Regional Air Service Corporation (RASC) announced the election of Andy Wirth as Chairman and President of RASC. Wirth, well-known for his business and philanthropic activities,is the President and CEO of Squaw Valley Ski Holdings and served as Chairman of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board of Trustees.
The Reno/Tahoe area offers a variety of activities for tourists to enjoy year round and the Reno-Tahoe Regional Air Service Committee was formed in 2001 to promote the area and increase air service. In 2015, it was incorporated as the Reno-Tahoe Regional Air Service Corporation (RASC) as a Nevada non-profit to maintain and grow air service. Direct flights have opened up to Oakland, California and Boise, Idaho.
As Chairman and President of RASC, Andy Wirth has lived a life that most people only dream of, one that spans a variety of career choices and could the source of book and movie plots. Educated at Colorado State University and Edinburgh University,
From there he moved into the corporate world by working for Vancouver’s Intrawest ULC marketing, eventually serving as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. From Vancouver, Wirth moved to Squaw Valley in 2010 to become president and CEO of Squaw Valley Ski Holdings. Since that time, Wirth has worked with and held offices with several area organizations, including serving as Chairman and President of Lake Tahoe Winter Olympic Committee Board of Directors.
An avid sportsman, including cycling, running, and skydiving, Wirth suffered a serious skydiving accident, which resulted in a three-month hospital stay. Because of the accident and then meeting several members of Navy Seal Team training nearby, Wirth co-founded “Wounded Warrior Support,” an Ironman team that raises money for Seal team members when they return home and their families.
