The Kaballah Centre is an organization which offers Kabbalistic knowledge to thousands of students found in over 50 locations around the world. Rav Yehuda Ashlag founded the first Kabbalah Centre in Jerusalem in 1922. Yehuda Brandwein, who had been his student, succeeded him and then in 1969 Brandwein gave Philip Berg the responsibility of running the non-profit organization. Philip Berg and his wife Karen re-established the Kabbalah Centre in New York City a few years after the death of Yehuda Brandwein.
Kaballah Centres all over the globe offer various tools to enable students to learn the teachings from anywhere and in the most convenient manner. Students may attend the lessons physically or can study online. The vast array of learning material includes books, downloadable material (audios, videos, and documents), prayer services, CDs, DVDs, and lectures.
The main aim of equipping people with Kabbalistic wisdom is to enable them achieve personal development and improve relationships with people around them. The teachings are based on the Zohar and the writings of famous Kabbalists. Zohar seeks to demystify some of the occurrences found in the old testament of the Bible. Many people see
Kabbalah as a system of universal wisdom which anyone can learn and improve his/her life.
This mystical tradition has become global with some even taking it as their personal religion. Its popularity is shown by the number of Smartphone Apps related to the non-profit organization. Kabbalah Centre’s Volunteer program aims at not only improving the lives of volunteers but also helping the less privileged and conserving the environment. Students who join this program can share ideas and participate in activities that are fulfilling.
The Volunteer program is all about making a difference in the world. It is about making the world a better place than you found it. The activities in the volunteer program include; cleaning a part of town, providing food and shelter to the homeless, sharing and mentoring new students. As Karen Berg advises, you must share yourself in a way that makes a difference and improves not only your life but that of other people.
